EDITOR’S NOTE
The editorial team here at Folio are thrilled to introduce our 49th issue. This collection of writing and art includes undergraduates from the University of Nigeria, the University of Louisville, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Belmont University, Central Michigan University, and beyond.
While this issue of Folio contains a multitude of topics, the common through line is the way these authors use their voices. Our writers are curious, searching for a way to explain things we haven’t been able to. These pieces explore our origins, where we are from, where we are going, how we got here, and what it all means. Sometimes there isn’t an answer, and the process of looking back is just as beautiful, but that is life.
The reason Denver Boxleitner's art was chosen as the cover of this new issue is because its liveliness matches the visceral nature of the issue’s content. You can feel the strokes of paint; you can feel it was created by a human, and in an era of artificial intelligence, nothing can be more character-building than human imperfection. The way we all embrace shortcomings creates the beautiful mosaic that is at the center of what it means to be alive. We at Folio are honored to continue highlighting amazing writers while also highlighting what it means to be human.
