OUTSIDE PHILOSOPHY
For Moyosoreoluwa
My baby loves
talking people,
I love talking philosophy.
Such vast ditch
between us, such great
home-wrecking hole
grateful we realized early
that it must be filled.
Right now,
she's at the library
down the street,
busy leafing through
the pages of philosophical
periodicals,
while I busy myself
at the workshop
in the basement
of our fledgling love
relentlessly chiseling
myself into people.
I want to be
all she talks about
outside philosophy.
